Students of Brentview
Grades 7-12
Engaging the youth of Calgary in a Jesus-centred way of life.
STUDENTS OF BRENTVIEW
Our theme for this year is ALIVE. As Ephesians 2:5 explains, we are made alive through the grace of Jesus Christ! How do we live differently as people who are alive in Jesus?
Please register your student for the 2024/2025 ministry year!
Students of Brentview
Our vision is for every student to belong, believe in Jesus, and become more like Him, equipping them to live Christ-like lives and engage healthily in church.
Brentview Student Ministry is dedicated to creating a warm and welcoming environment where students can experience church. Our goal is for students to feel a sense of belonging from their first Wednesday night. Both leaders and students work together to foster this sense of community.
Once students feel they belong, we focus on helping them believe. As a Jesus-centered youth group, we teach what it means to follow Jesus and love their neighbors. Students learn to navigate a culture that may pull them away from Christ, equipping them to maintain strong faith.
As we grow in belief, our leaders and students strive to become more like Jesus and more uniquely themselves. Filled with the Holy Spirit, they make decisions that lead to a joyful, peaceful, and Jesus-filled life.
Wednesday Nights
An engaging weekly gathering of students from grades 7—12. We meet from 7pm—8:30pm at the church (see our calendar above). We will have small groups, games, and worship as a part of our usual Wednesday nights! Once a month we will have an event night, either at the church or offsite, which range from movie nights, to giant clue games, to meeting at Flying Squirrel!
Youth Retreats
Each student has the chance to go on two retreats every year. One retreat is run by our denomination and brings together students from all over the province. The other is run by our church, where the goal is to give students space to get away, find rest, learn about Jesus, and connect with their leaders and fellow students.
Sunday Mornings
Sunday Mornings we have a very exciting Jr. High One Group that meets after worship! In this space we allow the students to discover their spiritual gifts, and what they are passionate about. The Jr High Sundays schedule is in the calendar above! We encourage the Sr. Highs to become involved at Brentview on Sunday mornings such as kids ministry, production teams or with the worship band.
HOW CAN I SUPPORT STUDENT MINISTRY?
Student Ministry is all about creating safe spaces for youth to feel a sense of belonging, ask big questions, learn about their identity in Christ, and dream about their future. If you are interested in a role on the Student Ministry team, there are lots of ways to get involved! Email Carmen to find out more about these teams:
Student Ministry Leadership
The Student Ministry Leader is an integral role in student ministry! As Student Ministry Leader you are a friend and mentor to a small group of students. You’ll have a ton of fun together, learn together, and encourage each other. Your job is to care for the kids in your group, and participate in events with them to help them stay involved!
Student Ministry Teaching Team
The Student Ministry Teaching Team is all about providing solid biblical teaching to the Students of Brentview. Carmen and other pastors at Brentview are part of the team, and we are always looking to expand! It is a firm belief that Students respond well to different voices all guiding them along a journey as they learn and grow in their faith. Contact Carmen to get involved!
Student Ministry Snack Team
Our snack team provides snack on Wednesday nights for the students and leaders! While Brentview can cover the cost of snack if needed, it is the job of the snack team member to provide the snack and ensure the group has everything they need to get it served! Email Carmen if you are interested in helping!
FAQs
What can my child expect coming to youth?
We want to provide a safe and fun environment for the kids to come in and have fun and learn! We will have weekly nights of games, worship, and small group time, and a time to talk about the bible and discuss some important questions.
Can we meet outside of Wednesday Nights?
Yes! We encourage our youth leaders to take an active part in the students lives throughout the week, not just on Wednesdays. If you want your student to meet with Carmen or their youth leader, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
